Reorganization of the Greek tax service: which divisions are merged

The large-scale organizational restructuring of the Independent State Revenue Administration (ΑΑΔΕ) and its transition to a new operating model continues.

At the beginning of the year, the head of the Greek Tax Administration, Georgios Pitsilis, presented a model whose key elements are the following:

1. Creation of centralized services in Attica and Thessaloniki (Verification and Collection Centers, Capital Tax Centers, Tax Procedures and Services Centers), to which all functions currently performed by the tax departments are transferred.
2. Transformation of the existing tax departments of Attica and Thessaloniki into new types of services, without specific local competence, which will operate as tax service offices. Staffed by experienced and specialized staff, in premises with a modern and ergonomic design that ensures functional adequacy and spatial flexibility, with minimal environmental impact, the new services will focus on welcoming, informing and directly serving taxpayers, who will be guided in the use of digital applications and assist in the correct fulfillment of their tax obligations.

At the same time as we centralize our services in Attica and Thessaloniki, we are transforming tax departments into tax services, eliminating geographical limitations. We are creating a new model services to citizens and businesses that reduces red tape while offering taxpayers better services.”

Following the establishment of a common confirmation and collection center for the whole of Attica, by decision of the head of the Hellenic Tax Service, from March 26, 2024, cash services for the issuance of double-entry collection documents type A will be provided exclusively by the following services:

Special competence retained: Maritime Tax Administration, which will be renamed Maritime Tax Service.
The service will be renamed the Service for Tax Services for Foreign Residents and Alternative Taxation of Domestic Residents, which will be renamed the Service for Tax Services for Foreign Residents and Alternative Taxation.
