Yiannis Xanthopoulos is not to blame for the fatal accident: the driver who ran the Stop sign has been identified

The driver of the car that ran the STOP sign on Dekelias Avenue and caused the accident involving Yiannis Xanthopoulos, which left a 19-year-old man with fatal injuries, has been identified.

Using video footage taken in the Menidi area where the accident occurred, traffic police identified a car that ran a STOP sign, and the singer, trying to avoid it, drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a car in which there were two young people aged 19 and 20 years.

The car, captured on camera, reportedly stopped some time after the collision and the driver, an elderly man, got out of the car. However, he did not rush to help the victims, but got back into the car and drove away. It was not possible to detain him, so a case was opened on charges of hitting a pedestrian and causing a traffic accident.

At the same time, the singer’s breathalyzer test did not reveal any alcohol consumption. The question remains whether the elderly man was under the influence of alcohol, as even now it would be impossible to take a breathalyzer test to draw any conclusions.

The accident occurred at dawn on March 12, 2024. Two teenagers were heading to the liquor store where they work. “They were careful driving and not speeding.”, say friends who were at the scene of the accident. The same reports state that Yiannis Xanthopoulos immediately stopped to administer first aid and was in a state of shock…
