300 sheep drowned in Pieria due to rain

A farmer from Svoronos is in despair, because due to the bad weather that “covered” Pieria, he lost almost a third of his animals in one night.

“Within an hour there was an absolute catastrophe., – the breeder told odelalis.gr. – Drowned animals, large and small, as well as destroyed food, as water after heavy rain flooded everything in the room.”

The farmer had 1,000 animals in total and yesterday’s rains are estimated to have killed more than 300.

“Tomorrow morning we will know the extent of the destruction. Now the equipment is removing dead animals and dirt. The next step will be spreading straw.”he said, not particularly optimistic about whether he would be compensated for the damage.
