Sending Western troops to Ukraine? Consensus not reached

Polish President Andrzej Duda confirmed the lack of consensus in Paris on sending troops to Ukraine, which French President Emmanuel Macron admitted.

The Polish president spoke about this after an informal summit in Paris dedicated to supporting Ukraine, reports AR agency According to him, there was a heated discussion about whether to send troops into Ukraine, and “no agreement was reached on this issue. Opinions here differ, but there are no such decisions.” At the same time, Andrzej Duda expressed hope quotes “European truth”:

“In the near future, we will be able to jointly prepare significant supplies of ammunition to Ukraine. This is very important now. This is what Ukraine really needs.”

French President Emmanuel Macron, after a summit in Paris on Monday, allowed Western troops to be sent to Ukraine in the future, although he noted that there was no consensus among allies on this issue. He also announced that Ukraine’s allies would create a coalition to supply Kyiv with medium- and long-range missiles.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told reporters after the Paris conference on support for Ukraine:

“As I have heard various comments from my colleagues on issues that may have been discussed in the room, I want to assure you that there is no question of sending forces, European NATO forces to Ukraine. This problem does not exist for Greece, and I think , does not exist for the vast majority of our colleagues.”

Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico, against the backdrop of a meeting of representatives of Western states in Paris, said that several NATO member countries and EU are considering the possibility of sending soldiers to Ukraine on a bilateral basis.

President Vladimir Zelensky said at a press conference on February 25 that Ukraine does not discuss with the allies the use of their armies on its territory.
