Lower the temperature? Yes to your health

Scientists have destroyed the myths that it is not recommended to “lower the temperature” after drinking strong drinks. The study involved 90 students aged 19 to 40 years from a German university.

Scientists studied the effects of alcohol and the manifestations of a hangover with a certain sequence of drinking drinks. The participants were divided into three groups. As it turned out, headaches appear regardless of the order in which alcoholic drinks are drunk, writes New York Post. The results of the work were published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

On the first day of the experiment, one group of students drank beer until their blood alcohol level reached 0.05%. They then switched things up and drank wine until the alcohol level reached 0.11%. The second group of participants took alcoholic drinks in the reverse order, and the third, “control”, drank only beer or wine.

After each “session,” participants were asked about their well-being and level of intoxication. The following morning, they rated the severity of their hangover on a scale of 0 to 7, depending on how thirsty, nauseated, tired and dizzy they felt. After a week, the groups switched roles.

After analyzing the results, the researchers found that the order of drinking did not have much of an impact on the severity of the hangover, but was more influenced by how the body processed alcohol.

During the experiment, scientists found that you can drink alcohol in absolutely any order. The most important thing is “not to get carried away(!), monitor the volume and speed” of drinking alcohol. And, the researchers warn, you should keep in mind: some types of drinks worsen a hangover – whiskey, scotch, brandy, cognac.
