Conscripts in Ukraine will be demobilized and will not be able to mobilize for 12 months

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as a whole adopted bill No. 11035 on the transfer to the reserve of military personnel undergoing military service. They cannot be called up within the next year after demobilization, DW notes.

319 deputies voted for the law adopted on February 23, Aleksey Goncharenko and Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on Telegram, quotes edition:

“The Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis and in general a bill on the demobilization of conscripts! Conscripts whose service life expired during martial law and was extended beyond the established deadlines are discharged from military service into the reserve within the time frame determined by the decree of the President of Ukraine. The military cannot be called up for military service during mobilization within 12 months from the date of transfer to the reserve.”

At the beginning of a full-scale war, DW recalls, it was decided that conscripts would remain in military service during martial law. They could be demobilized only for certain reasons. On Thursday, President Vladimir Zelensky introduced a bill on the demobilization of conscripts to the Verkhovna Rada. The document establishes that they are released from service into the reserve within the time limits determined by the decree of the head of state. Conscripts whose term of service has already expired will soon be demobilized.

Previously, our publication talked about the fact that in a “gentle mode” plans Ukraine will carry out mobilization in accordance with a new bill that is under discussion; high-profile provisions will be removed from it. The finalized law will allow for the rotation and demobilization of military personnel who have spent more than 18 months on the front line. But what is important is that citizens are promised large-scale concessions compared to the first version of the bill.
