Farmers scheduled a protest meeting on Syntagma for today, 20/02 in the afternoon, but by early morning a column of tractors left for the capital, and traffic police were forced to take emergency measures.
Farmers on tractors spent the night in Kastro (Beotias) and, according to Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis, approximately 100 to 150 vehicles will enter Athens.
All tractors and farm vehicles must exit from the National Road (Efniki Odos) and Kifisos Avenue to the central avenue of Athens. Authorities are releasing a map showing the route they will follow.
Farmers on tractors will arrive, accompanied by police, to the center of Athens, and from midday traffic will be temporarily suspended in the section of Athens Avenue – Achilleos – Karaiskaki Square.
Then the farmers will move along the street. Ag. Constantine and Panepistimiou to get to Syntagma. During this time, there will be a temporary suspension of traffic around Omonia Square.
Subsequently, the movement of vehicles will be suspended on Amalias Avenue, st. Panepistimiou, Vas Avenue. Sophias and all perpendicular streets.
It is noted that traffic along Vasilisi Sophias Street will be blocked from the height of Parliament and on the way down will pass to Sekeri Street.
