“Neighborhood Nannies”: grandparents join the program as they receive 500 euros


The Neighborhood Babysitters program now also includes grandparents looking after their grandchildren.

Let us remind you that those beneficiaries whose applications will be accepted will will receive an amount of 500 euros per month (from 250 euros initially established) for care and supervision for their children by a teacher selected from the Register of Teachers. This amount will be provided in cases where the parent works full time or is self-employed or self-employed.

In particular, all individuals who meet the conditions for participation in the program can be registered, that is, “neighborhood nannies” can also be relatives of their parents. Thus, anyone can take part in the program, provided they have a diploma of secondary education and have completed a training seminar, by submitting an invitation of interest on the platform ntantades.gov.gr.

Who has the right to register in the Register of Curators?

The following have the right to register:

  • who have reached the age of 18 years,
  • Greek or foreign citizens legally residing in Greece and having access to the labor market, as well as meeting the requirements of the amendment to the notice of interest for future nannies No. 41866/24-04-2023, posted on the project website ntantades.gov.gr

How can I register in the Register of Curators?

To register in the registry, you need to go to the website ntantades.gov.gr “Register with the Nanny Register” and use your taxisnet codes to apply online. You will also find detailed instructions on how to apply there.

When can I apply to register on the Nanny Register?

The online application is valid from 29/3/2022 to 30/09/2024.

Is residence a prerequisite for registration in the Register of Trustees?

No, this is not a requirement. However, the pilot of the promotion will be implemented in specific municipalities of the country, so your services will be provided in these areas.

I do not have any of the qualifications listed in the nanny registration invitation. Can I apply?

Yes, you can apply, as you have the opportunity to complete an asynchronous training program, provided that you have at least a compulsory education diploma (up to grade 3) (see amendment to the Announcement of a competition for nanny candidates No. 41866 /24-04-2023, article 2 “Acquiring nanny status”, clause 2.1.3, on the project website ntantades.gov.gr).

How can I participate in the training program?

To take part in the online training, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the project application ntantades.gov.gr and, using your personal taxisnet codes, enter the application form “Registration in the register of nannies”.
  2. To register for a training program, go to SECTION B – OTHER INFORMATION/Education Level of your application and select the link howto.gov.gr to enter the training program.
  3. After reviewing the study materials available at the above link, you will be taken to the assessment questions where you will be asked to answer 30 true/false or multiple choice questions.

Throughout the test, you can jump to questions by clicking on “Next Page” or “Previous Page” at the bottom of the screen. You have the option to ignore the question and come back to it later, or correct the answer before final submission. After you answer all the questions, in the window that appears, click “Submit all and finish.”

You have 45 minutes to complete the test.

Answers are automatically marked by the system and the successful candidate is the one who scores 70% or more correct answers. If you fail the test, you have the right to try again in a week. You can try a maximum of two (2) times in total.

I successfully completed the asynchronous training program, but did not receive a certificate to accompany my application. What should I do?

At this stage, no certificate will be issued. If you have successfully completed the training program with a passing score of more than 70%, you should:

  • reapply from the website ntantades.gov.gr in the section “Registration in the Register of Nannies”,
  • go to SECTION B of your application, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION section,
  • select your level of education (for example, secondary education, higher education, etc.), and in the “Specialty” section, select “Online education”,
  • attach in pdf format any qualifications you have (for example, a diploma of secondary education or a university/TEI diploma).

In order to register as a carer, I need to complete the online training on the website howto.gov.gr or can I attend any workshop to participate in the Neighborhood Nanny program?

If you do not have the qualifications required under Expression of Interest No. 41866/24-04-2023, you will need to complete the online training to register howto.gov.gr.

How long will it take for my application to register on the Nanny Register to be processed?

Within ten (10) working days from the final submission of the application, GGIAD shall carry out a substantive check of the submitted data and supporting documents and, if necessary, cross-check them by retrieving the necessary data from the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat for Public Administration Information Systems of the Ministry of Digital Governance.

How will I be informed about the progress of my application?

If your application is successful, you will be registered in the Custodian Registry and will receive, via email to your GISD National Communications Registry address, a unique registry number that must be marked on each electronic or physical file relating to you.

In the event of any discrepancies or omissions in your application regarding the information provided or supporting documents required, you will be informed by email to the address registered in the National GISD Contact Register so that you can make the necessary corrections or additions within three (3) working days.

If the requirements are not met within the specified period, the request will be rejected at the discretion of ΓΓΙΑΔ, with a clear indication of the reason for the rejection, which will be notified to you by email. If my application is rejected, can I submit a new application?

Yes, provided that the reasons for rejection no longer apply and the conditions for registration in the Register of Assistants are met.

Is the personal data contained in my application protected?

Yes, your personal data is protected in accordance with Law 4624/2019 (Government Gazette 137/A/2019) “Office for the Protection of Personal Data, measures for the implementation of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and transposition into national law of Directive (EU) 2016/680 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 and other provisions”, depending depending on the situation.

Can employees and pensioners apply to register with the Register of Trustees?

  • Workers can, if their working hours allow and in accordance with current legislation.
  • Pensioners may, provided that they comply with the procedures prescribed by current legislation for the employment of pensioners.

What is the salary level for nannies?

During the pilot period of the promotion, part of the remuneration of curators included in the register is financed by providing the beneficiaries (parents) with the “cost of placement (voucher)”.

The voucher amount is:

  • five hundred (500) euros per month if the benefit recipient works full time, is a freelancer or self-employed,
  • three hundred (300) euros per month if the recipient of the benefit works part-time or on a rotational basis, or is registered as unemployed in the register of unemployed people of the Ministry of Employment and Social Affairs, or receives it as part of another activity.

What kind of insurance do nannies have?

Nannies are insured by e-EFKA and receive a salary from a person with whom they have a private contract. [см. декрет № 6457/27.01.2022, статья 10(2) (Правительственный вестник 205/B)]. Insured persons who have entered into an employment contract are entitled to the same benefits as other insured persons.

How are nannies paid?

  • The beneficiaries must pay the remuneration stipulated by the private agreement between them to the manager by issuing him a voucher.
  • The face value of the voucher must be at least equal to the value of the voucher to which the beneficiary is entitled.
  • The beneficiary must indicate the bank account to which the beneficiary must transfer the remuneration at the end of each month of service.
  • Beneficiaries must place in the information system of the promotion a copy of the work seal for payment of the supervisor’s remuneration for the relevant period of time and responsibly declare in the information system of the promotion, in the field “Responsible declaration of acceptance of services”, which is a responsible declaration of Law 1599/86 that the agreed services have been provided nanny

How many children can caregivers provide services to at the same time and place?

Each nanny is allowed to provide services at the same time and in the same place:

  • up to three (3) children aged between two (2) months and two (2) years and six (6) months, of which only one (1) child may be under one (1) year of age,
  • no more than two (2) children for children under one (1) year of age.
  • Please note that the above requirements also apply to your own children, as long as they are under two (2) years and six (6) months of age.

Can I be a nanny and a beneficiary at the same time?

No, vouchers cannot be used by the beneficiary to care for their child.
