The restoration of Ukraine was discussed at a conference in Athens (video)

On February 15, politicians, diplomats, and businessmen discussed issues of reconstruction of Ukraine at a conference in the capital of Greece.

Sven Roben, head of the European Investment Bank team for Ukraine, noted quotes euronews:

“We have very important projects in the transport sector: railways and the restoration of roads. This is important for exports, but it is also important for people to be able to move within the country. Sometimes new roads save lives, because people can be evacuated from the front. We have “There are water supply projects, which are also very important because the water supply infrastructure is badly damaged. In addition, we support small and medium-sized enterprises through local banks.”

According to a joint estimate by the European Commission, the World Bank, the UN and the Ukrainian government, reconstruction will cost an estimated $411 billion. The reconstruction of Ukraine will be one of the largest post-war development projects in Europe. The full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation caused serious damage to the Ukrainian economy: entire cities and towns were destroyed in the country, energy and other critical infrastructure was damaged.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece Kostas Frangoyannis emphasized:

“We want Ukraine to be close to Europe, and, of course, we want to participate in the reconstruction of the country. We are present in terms of assistance, support for political and economic spheres, and we want to participate in the restoration of Ukraine’s infrastructure.”

EU and the European Investment Bank provided Kyiv with 70 billion euros to rebuild the country. “We are grateful to Greece for its support and would also like to thank the international community for its desire to invest in Ukraine and in the future of international stability,” said Oleg Nemchinov, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The reconstruction of Ukraine will be the work of more than one generation. Emergency intervention has already begun in the first months of the war, but the work to rebuild the country will be as large-scale as the battles at the front.
