A Ukrainian teenager was seriously injured in a xenophobic attack in the town of Mettmann, near Düsseldorf, and was hospitalized.
Police are looking for a man who hit him in the head with an unknown object on the evening of February 10. The incident occurred in one of the eateries in the city of Mettmann in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. reports DPA agency. The stranger first made xenophobic remarks to the teenager, provoking a conflict, and then suddenly hit him on the head and ran away.
According to the police, tells Deutsche Welle, the boy suffered a severe head injury. He was taken to hospital and although his injuries were serious, his life was not in danger. Police are looking for witnesses to the attack and are trying to find out the identity of the perpetrator, who, as stated in the orientation, may be of Polish origin. Witnesses described the attacker as a strong and robust man, approximately 1.92 meters tall.
How told our publication, in Oberhausen, near Düsseldorf, at about the same time, 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player Vladimir Ermakov and another athlete were attacked. There, police said they saw “no concrete evidence of a xenophobic crime.” The clash was preceded by an argument.
The Ukrainian Basketball Federation reported about the death Ermakov in Germany, German police detained a killer of Turkish origin.
