On the morning of February 12, in the metropolitan area of Glyfada, a shooting took place in the best traditions of Hollywood: a former employee of a shipping company broke into its office on Artemisiou Street, shot people and hid in a shelter. According to police reports, 3 people died.
The shooter was a former employee of Egyptian origin who had recently been fired. According to the same information, the man had been a foreman at the company for many years and was reportedly armed with a shotgun.
The Egyptian entered the company premises from the parking lot because, despite being fired, he still had access to the premises. Upon entering the premises, the man said that he was going inside to restore order. He first went to the mezzanine floor, where he shot two people, an employee and the owner’s son-in-law, and then stopped on the second floor, where he shot and killed the company owner’s sister. Shocking testimonies of employees who managed to get out of the company:
Paramedics are unable to enter the building because the shooter is still inside. Two mobile units, a motorcycle and an ambulance are waiting outside. Due to the police operation, traffic was stopped in the following places:
- Poseidonos Avenue and Fleming Square,
- Karamanlis and Calypso,
- Artemisiou and Rontiri.
The company’s employees are in dire straits as they stand outside the building and call their relatives to report that they are in good health.
