On January 23, 2024, in a Catholic church in Bad Ischl in Austria, a video of naked people dancing was shown above the altar.
Social media users called the nude dancing a “sick” and “decadent” spectacle. However, according to the priest of the RCC from the city of Rad-Ishl, there is “no problem” with such dances.
During a “cultural” event held in the open air in Bad Ischl, several people danced naked. While dancing, they sprinkled baby powder on their naked bodies, resulting in their performance being advertised as a “powder dance.”
Commentators on social media called the spectacle “sick” and “decadent.” However, this “performance” was well received by the Catholic parish in honor of St. Nicholas in Bad Ischl.
Local priest Christian Ehler installed a large screen above the main altar on which the “powder dancing” was broadcast live to parishioners. According to Ehler, there is “no problem” with all this, since, in his words, “Jesus is the most frequently depicted nude person.”
