ELSTAT: business turnover decreases by 8.7% in the third quarter of 2023


The turnover of businesses and economic activity in Greece decreased by 8.7% in the third quarter of last year to 120.083 billion euros, compared to 131.476 billion in the third quarter of 2022.

The largest decrease in turnover was recorded among enterprises in the sector “Supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioners” (61%), the smallest – among enterprises in the sector “Wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars and motorcycles” (0.3%), and the largest growth was observed among enterprises in the sector “Financial and insurance activities” (79%).

According to ELSTATthe turnover of all companies obliged to keep double-entry books for which monthly data is available amounted to 31.036 billion euros in November 2023, an increase of 1% compared to November 2022, when it amounted to 30.728 billion euros.

The largest increase in turnover was shown by enterprises in the Construction sector (24.4%), the smallest by enterprises in the sector “Wholesale and retail trade, repair of cars and motorcycles” (0.6%), and the largest decrease was in enterprises of the sector “Supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioners” (32.7%).
