Car sales in Greece grew by 30.1% in December 2023


According to ELSTATin December last year, a 30.1% increase in car sales was recorded in Greece, the Greeks were actively buying new cars.

For the first time this month, 15,581 cars (new or used foreign cars) hit the roads, while in December 2022 there were 11,976 such cars, that is, sales increased by 30.1%. New cars amounted to 8,919 units compared to 7,343 registered in December 2022, which is an increase of 21.5%. If we compare sales of previous years, then in 2022 there was a decrease of 0.3% compared to 2021.

A total of 238,117 vehicles (new or used) were first released on the country’s roads in 2023, up from 205,130 in 2022, an increase of 16.1% (2022 recorded an increase of 3.3% compared to 2021). The number of new vehicles was 145,667 versus 115,661 produced in 2022, an increase of 25.9%.

In December 2023, 2,543 new motorcycles with a capacity of more than 50 cc were also registered. cm (new and used foreign) compared to 2,547 in the same month of 2022, indicating a decrease of 0.2% (December 2022 saw an increase of 9.6% compared to the same month of 2021).
