The trial of the 12-year-old pedophile victim will take place on January 8

The main accused in the case of 12-year-old Kolonos pedophile victim Ilias Michos returns to Athens today as his trial begins on Monday 8 January.

The transfer of Ilias Michos from Grevena prison, where he had been held since October 2022, took place on the morning of 01/5/2024. A total of 26 accused will appear before the Mixed Assize Court of Athens in the first “rape of a girl” case. Among them is the victim’s mother, allegedly involved in “involving a child in prostitution.” The 36-year-old woman is being held at Korydallos Women’s Prison.

The case contains 266 pages. Ilias Mihos is accused in organizing “a plan to exploit a girl for his own financial gain by forcing her into prostitution and obtaining income from providing her erotic services to third parties for a fee.”

He initially used the BLINDCHAT.GR application with two phone numbers belonging to a minor. The profile he created also allowed him to connect to his phone devices and also installed the same app on the teenager’s mobile phone. There he introduced her (on his own behalf, anonymously) as a girl of 16-17 years old, “ready to brighten up the gentleman’s evening” for 50-70 euros and with a meeting place at the metro station in Sepolia. He also (ostensibly on behalf of the “girl”) gave a brief description of her appearance.

“Having identified people interested in dating the minor, he continued communicating with them through VIBER and WHATS APP. He sent erotic videos and nude photographs of girls to potential clients to advertise the “product.” He then arranged for the child to meet with the client.

“To suppress her objections and persuade her to enter prostitution, Mihos used the same threats against her life and physical integrity, taking advantage of her vulnerable position due to the poverty of her family, the lack of supervision from her parents and the constant pressure put on her by her mother, who demanded that the minor “find money”

“Datings” often took place late in the evening, even very late at night. Moreover, Irini’s parents were not worried about her absence and the dangers that threatened her on the streets of the metropolis.

Mother of the 12-year-old victim The pimps are now also charged with aggravated pornography because, according to testimony, the mother knew what her daughter was doing and demanded money from her (and even sent intimate photos of her daughter to clients – although this has not been proven – and received certain amounts into her bank account).

“Between April and August 2022, a large number of actions were committed that represent a continuation of the same crime regularly committed against a minor. In particular, the accused, although she noticed her daughter’s involvement in prostitution, despite her childhood, encouraged and facilitated this activity, creating favorable conditions and circumstances through her actions and inactions.

The case was solved thanks to the girl’s aunt, who discovered messages from Miho addressed to her niece in August 2022. Due to the large number of defendants, witnesses and lawyers, the trial will take place in the Court of Appeal.
