By the end of November 2023, the Greek Golden Visa program received a record 7,752 applications, an increase of 78% compared to 2022.
According to a recent report by Investment Migration Insider, this program is the most in demand worldwide.
Despite the increase in the number of applications, only one out of five was approved, with China and Turkey leading as the main beneficiary countries. Of the total number of applications for the first 11 months of this year, the Greek authorities have so far Only 14 were rejected.
For the first time since last August, the total number of pending applications fell slightly in November, from 27,512 to 27,045.
The main beneficiaries of this program were Chinese citizens. Next come the countries: Türkiye, Lebanon, Iran, USA and Egypt. The main beneficiaries of Golden Visa are citizens of China and Turkey. The Greek Ministry of Immigration and Foreign Affairs reported that in 2024, citizens of these two countries will submit the largest number of applications for the Greek Golden Visa program. Ministry statistics showed that 6,405 Chinese citizens and 618 Turkish citizens also received residence permits in the Hellenic Republic under the Residency by Investment program.
Greece Golden Visa Program allows foreigners to obtain a residence permit if they invest a certain amount in that country and meet the necessary criteria. Let us recall, as the Athens News previously wrote, from August 1, 2023, the threshold for “entering the program” was increased from 250,000 to 500,000 euros for those who buy real estate in some areas of Athens, Thessaloniki, as well as Mykonos and Santorini.
