Record passenger traffic for 11 months of 2023 – an increase of 9.6%


A record increase in passenger traffic and number of flights was recorded in the 11th month of 2023 compared to the corresponding periods in 2022 and 2019 at all airports in Greece.

According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Service, the country’s airports (Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Airport, 24 airports managed by CAA, 14 regional airports managed by CAA Fraport Greece) recorded an all-time record: passenger traffic in the 11th month of 2023 exceeded 9.6%. indicator for the 12th month of 2022. Note that in the 11th month of this year, 69,771 passengers were served at airports, while for the entire 2022 (12 months ́22) 63,672,121 passengers were served.

As for passenger traffic at Greek airports, November this year, an increase of 23.5% was recorded compared to 2022 and by 12.7% compared to 2019. In 2023, 2,925,746 passengers were served, in 2022 – 2,369,079, and in 2019 – 2,596,285.

Also in the 11 months of 2023 in Greece (January – November 2023), the total number of passengers at airports reached 69,771,387, compared to 61,229,394 in the corresponding period of 2022 and 61,665,799 passengers in 2019. Judging by the statistics above, there is an increase in passenger traffic by 14% compared to 2022 and by 13.1% compared to 2019.

In the field of flight statistics (arrivals and departures of domestic and international aircraft) in November 2023 There were 24,842 flights compared to 23,218 in 2022 and 23,774 flights in 2019, with flight volumes up 7% over 2022 and up 4.5% over 2019.

Flight statistics for the 11 months of 2023 (January – November 2023) show that there were 537,172 flights, compared to 528,292 in 2022 and 502,646 flights in 2019.
