Poland has a new prime minister

The Polish Sejm elected Donald Tusk, leader of the Civic Coalition, as prime minister.

How reports TVN24, 248 deputies of the Seimas voted for it, 201 were against it, there were no abstentions. In his speech after the vote, the newly elected prime minister said:

“Thank you, Poland, this is truly a great day, not for me, but for all those who believed that, thanks to you, everything would change for the better. I would like to thank the members of the Law and Justice party – it was you who managed to awaken millions people. It was thanks to what you tried to do not only to me, but also to democracy, that so many Poles woke up on October 15th.”

Before this, the Sejm of Poland predictably did not express confidence in the minority government of Mateusz Morawiecki: 266 deputies voted against confidence, 190 deputies voted for it, and there were no abstentions.

The full work of the new government is expected to begin on December 13, after taking the oath of office before the President of Poland.
