Jonathan Feiner: The US wants to push Moscow to make a choice

Jonathan Feiner, principal deputy assistant to the US president for national security, said Washington wants to convince Russia to make peace with Ukraine by the end of 2024, voicing two options:

either negotiations or “they will be dealing with a stronger Ukraine, backed by a stronger industrial base in the US, Europe and within Ukraine, more capable of taking the offensive again.”

According to Feiner, by the end of 2024 the United States intend to convince Russia to enter into peace negotiations on terms acceptable to Ukraine, based on the UN Charter in terms of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. After 2024, the United States will increase production volumes of the military-industrial complex. Ukrainian factories are also working to increase the volume of defense production, he explained, and similar efforts are being made in Europe.

“This is a very difficult strategic choice. I don’t know what the Russians will ultimately decide. But this is the dilemma we would like to create for them,” Feiner said. He is confident that in a year and a half, Western countries will find themselves “on a much stronger foundation than now.”
