Due to the cold weather, wild boars tried to hide in the courtyards of houses and find food

Wild animals roamed the streets of Agios Ioannis Kalamarias and the area of Charilou (Thessaloniki) in search of food.

Two wild boars were spotted on Papatsehylidis Street in Kalamaria this morning, with Mayor Giannis Dardamanelis saying he had contacted the forestry department “as the specific animals belong to the wild fauna and we certainly cannot remain mere observers.” This is the second time that wild boars have appeared in our area. Two years ago we found one in the former Kodra camp and two last year in Agios Panteleimonas.”

The Forestry Department has assured the municipality of Kalamaria that will send a team to find them, and until then advised not to leave food in containers for stray animals, and also to throw food waste in the trash, given that wild boars have a strong sense of smell and are looking for food. It is noted that under no circumstances should you approach the “forest guests.”

According to eyewitnesses, around midnight, residents of the Charilau area, at the intersection of Anaximandros and Pelopidou streets, noticed a herd of five to six wild boars moving through the area in search of food.
