Florina police, in an organized operation, arrested a 59-year-old foreigner for telephone scams against unsuspecting citizens.
In particular, two of his accomplices, a man and a woman, called an 83-year-old woman in Florina at noon on Friday 24/11, posing as a hospital doctor and the woman as her daughter, who falsely informed her that she needed immediate hospitalization and surgery , which requires a large amount of money.
During the conversation, the scammers ordered the elderly woman to give money to a man who would come to her home. Thus, the old lady was to be given seventeen gold pounds worth about 8,000 euros.
A police operation was immediately organized, during which a man was identified and arrested, from whom coins were found and confiscated, as well as a knife with a blade length of eleven centimeters and a mobile phone.
During the ongoing investigation, it turned out that the man had similarly defrauded an 89-year-old resident of Ioannina, from whom he received 4,800 euros. And in the city of Florina, five attempts were made to deceive citizens, from whom they tried to take away a total of 123,000 euros (fortunately, without success).
The Florina Security Department continues to investigate to identify the two accomplices, and their involvement in other similar criminal activities is also being investigated. The detainee with the case brought against him was brought to the prosecutor of Florina.
