Police are looking for a sexual maniac nicknamed "Dragon of Exarchia"

Police in central Athens have been put on high alert in the past 48 hours following four incidents of sexual assault and attempted rape in broad daylight.

Among the victims – A 13-year-old girl and three women aged between 20 and 30. Local residents consider it necessary to organize “patrols” to protect women and minors. The maniac is currently only active in the Exarchia region. For this reason, journalists came up with the nickname “Dragon of Exarchia” for him.

The first attack occurred last Thursday, November 16th. The victim was a young doctor who worked in one of the apartment buildings. When the gunman attacked her, she screamed and he ran away, as evidenced by the CCTV footage below.

As seen in the video document, a man wearing the same Bermuda shorts as described by his victims, but with a different jacket, is at the entrance to the apartment building and walking around. A little further you can see a woman.

At 2pm on Saturday he attacked a 13-year-old girl as she walked to the gym. He began to paw at her, but she screamed and began to struggle, trying to escape his grip.

On Monday morning, the suspect attacked two women, aged 27 and 29. Both victims told police he grabbed them, covered their mouths with his hand and tried to rape them. Both women managed to break free and run away. It should be noted that both attacks took place within 10 minutes: the first on Zoodoxhos Pigis Street, the second on the corner of Benaki-Nikitaras, just one block away.

All victims described the perpetrator to the police as a man about 30 years old, of average height, with fair skin and hair, and blue eyes. According to some media reports, he spoke Greek and English with an accent. Some of them claimed that the man spoke broken English, while others said that he spoke broken Greek. In an attempt to identify the perpetrator, police showed victims photographs of registered offenders who had committed similar crimes.

As the police continue their investigation by studying CCTV footage and other materials, residents of Exarchia are very concerned and are considering setting up “patrols” to protect women and minors in the area.
