Greece will never accept the Turkish occupation of northern Cyprus and continues to work to find a mutually acceptable settlement on the island. This is stated in the circulated statement on the website of the Greek Foreign Ministry.
“Today marks 40 years since the illegal and unilateral proclamation of a pseudo-state condemned by UN Security Council resolutions 541/1983 And 550/1984“, the Greek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
On this sad anniversary, Greece emphasizes the need for full compliance by all States with Security Council resolutions in accordance with international legality. These resolutions call on all countries to refrain from recognizing or providing any assistance to the illegal entity in the occupied part of Cyprus.
Greece will never accept the fait accompli of the Turkish invasion and occupation. In full coordination with the Republic of Cyprus, Greece is systematically working to create conditions that will lead to a fair, viable, functional and mutually acceptable solution within the framework of UN Security Council resolutions.” – emphasized in the statement of the Greek Foreign Ministry.
