Greece has the largest immigration funding


Greece has achieved immigration funding of 42.4 million euros. The European Commission has decided to provide extraordinary funding to EU member states to combat the immigration crisis, totaling 258.9 million euros for 2023.

Of this total, Greece provided immigration funding of €42.4 million through two proposals that were submitted and approved:

a) Development of optical fibers and software to improve data exchange between border stations.

b) Foster care/family and community care and semi-independent living arrangements for adolescents.

Greece received the largest amount of funding among all other member states. The breakdown by country is as follows:

  • Greece: 42.4 million euros.
  • Bulgaria: €37.3 million
  • Latvia: 33.4 million euros.
  • Croatia: 29.9 million euros.
  • Italy: 28.8 million euros.
  • Cyprus: €23.03 million
  • Lithuania: 19 million euros.
  • Hungary: 17.3 million euros.
  • Spain: €9.57 million.
  • Poland: 7.85 million euros.
  • Slovakia: 5.2 million euros
  • Belgium: €5.08 million.

Funding will be used to strengthen borders EU and protection of migrant minors.
