DYPA: 5,000 new subsidized jobs as part of the employment program for unemployed people over 55

As part of a proactive employment policy aimed at supporting older unemployed people who face significant barriers to returning to the labor market, the successful employment program for unemployed people aged 55 and over is being expanded to offer 5,000 new vacancies with a total budget of 117 million .euro.

After covering the initial allocated 15,000 places, the program is expanded and improved through the following measures:

  • Potential participants in the program now include all unemployed people aged 55 years and older, and the condition of long-term registered unemployment (12+ months), which was previously in force, is abolished.
  • Persons who have exceeded the age limit of 67 years and have not acquired pension rights can participate in the program.
  • All seven unified decentralized administrations are included in the scheme as beneficiaries.

As noted in the press release, the program has already been strengthened and improved twice and, with an increase of 5 thousand places, will now offer a total of 20 thousand jobs.

The duration of the program is 12 months, with the possibility of extension for another 12 months, and the monthly subsidy is 75% of wages and social security contributions, up to 750 euros per month.

The program participants are representatives of a wide variety of government bodies. Roughly, the program includes many public legal entities (such as municipalities, regions, social security funds, hospitals, social security centers, etc.) throughout the country.
