Zoological Park of Attica: judge’s decision on dolphin show

The justice system has ruled on the dolphin show at the Attica Zoological Park, which sparked a reaction following a post by then Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis a year ago.

As My Dolphin Club reports on its Facebook page about the legal developments in the case regarding the show in the Attica Zoological Park:

“The owner of the Attica Zoological Park was found guilty of organizing a dolphin show in accordance with Law 4039/12 and was sentenced by the 6th Single Court of First Instance of Athens today, October 27, 2023, to 8 months imprisonment with a 3-year disqualification. Criminal prosecution was initiated following a complaint from board member Olga Kikos, a member of the Δ.Σ leadership. της Dolphinaria-Free Europe, and Alexandros Francis, President of the Pelagos Research Institute (Ιντιτούτου Kητολογικών Ερευνών Πέλαγος).

We are always present as inspectors in all events/trials involving dolphins, providing financial support where appropriate. We sincerely thank Ms. Chika, Mr. Francis, George Dimitriou, the head of the Attica Region Ecological Alliance faction and our lawyer Mr. Dimitris Belantis for their cooperation. We are waiting for the trial and filing a lawsuit.”

The incident became public knowledge and caused a public outcry after the publication of the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiadis about his visit to the Attica Zoological Park, where he watched a dolphin show, which is strictly prohibited by law.
