Car manufacturers are panicking

Automakers are in complete panic trying to convince member countries EUwho have entered a state of environmental “madness”, in that their decisions, and especially the timing of their implementation, are impracticable and dangerous.

Already now, any new small car costs from 20,000 euros, a crossover – from 25,000 euros, and an SUV – from 35,000 euros.

But let’s look at the problem from the very beginning. Countries (and all of us) experiencing the dramatic and worsening effects of climate change are making tough and radical decisions in the field of transport. One of them is to ban the sale of cars with internal combustion engines throughout the EU from 2035, when the new EURO 7 emissions standard comes into force. All this requires automakers to invest billions of dollars in developing innovative technologies to produce fundamentally new cars.

For the first time, the automotive industry is sounding the alarm that one of the main pillars of the European economy is already showing its first cracks. The main problem for them is not so much the development of electric vehicles, which is already in full swing, but EURO 7which, among other things, will lead to further increase in car pricesif the participating countries do not radically reduce taxes.

Some countries have even agreed to completely cancel the transition to EURO 7 and move to the existing EURO 6. In fact, a bloc of eight countries has already been formed, which is almost a third of the 27 EU members: France, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic, which signed the joint statement against any new exhaust emissions rules. Moreover, they appear intent on blocking a final decision on EURO7 in the coming months as they consider it unnecessary, not good for the environment and having a major negative impact on industry.

At the same time, the expected increase in car prices due to the introduction of EURO7 will slow down the renewal of the EU car fleet, and people will find it difficult to replace their even older cars (Euro 3, 4, etc.). Note that Greece, which is experiencing perhaps the most severe consequences of climate change, is in favor of EURO 7 and even decided that the STOP on the sale of cars with diesel and gasoline engines should be introduced five years earlier, i.e. from 2030.

What is certain is that Europe is in a state of internal informal civil war, the course of which is expected to be determined by one country. Of course, this is… Germany.
