The girl died from an electric shock while taking a shower

Poor Irini was found dead by her partner on Wednesday afternoon 10/25 when he returned home to find her lying on the floor of a small bathroom. Initial estimates, he told police, were that the young girl was taking a shower with the water heater on and was likely electrocuted.

The 54-year-old man had recently left the apartment to buy food for the cats the couple was caring for, and when he returned 20 minutes later, his partner was already dead.

According to neighbors, residents of the apartment building, the girl screamed, called for help, and a female doctor living on the floor below came running to see what was happening. As told by protothema.gr, the unfortunate girl was lying on the floor naked and had no pulse. The victim had no injuries on her body. Despite the doctor’s efforts to revive her with CPR until emergency services arrived, she was unsuccessful.

The police urgently arrived at the scene. Law enforcement authorities are investigating the circumstances of the death, and the body of a 24-year-old woman was taken for a forensic examination.

Today, a few days later, forensic experts delivered their verdict: the unfortunate girl, apparently, died from electric shock when washed with the water heater on. The cause of death, according to protothema.gr, is stated to be “traces of an electric shock on the right leg.” At the moment, the scenario of electric shock has been confirmed, but the forensic report requires further investigation, so the results of histological studies are awaited, which will shed more light on the cause of death.

On the website protothema.gr, he described the moment he found Irini dead in the bathroom of the apartment where they lived, and the painful attempts to bring her back to life. “As soon as she went into the bathroom, I went to the supermarket to buy food. When I returned, I saw our kitten hiding under the sofa in fear. I heard the sound of water in the bathroom… I shouted: “Irini, what happened, are you still bathing? After all, 20 minutes have passed.” I opened the door and saw her huddled in the corner, yellow and blue lips. Water was still pouring out of the shower,” the man says.

“I picked Irini up, carried her into the room and tried to help her. Then I opened the door and shouted: “Guys, ambulance, what’s the number?” A young man answered me, I called 166. At the same time, a doctor came from the lower apartment and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Unfortunately, even the rescuers could not bring her back to life,” he notes.

According to the man, the house did not have a “relay” installed on the heating tank (θερμοσιφωνο), and from the very beginning he thought that his partner had suffered an electric shock. “Irini and I lived together since 2018 and were in love with each other. She always smiled… and now she passed away so unfairly. I always took care of her, loved her dearly, never let her go,” says her partner.

It is reported that Irini’s father thought that the couple lived in Corfu, and not in Thessaloniki. The grief-stricken man claims that this was the girl’s wish. They had to lie to their relatives so that they would not bother them, since her father did not approve of their relationship due to the large age difference, which was 30 years.

The father believes it was “not an accident.” The much older partner was jealous of Irini and may have dealt with her in this way. He insists police conduct a thorough investigation.
