The Communist Party is against Greece’s participation in the conflict in the Middle East

Deputies from the Communist Party of Greece appealed to the parliament and the country’s leadership with a demand “not to transfer the military base 112 IAP in Eleusis into concession for use in the conflict in the Middle East.”

The issue of concessioning the military base of the 112th Combat Wing in Elefsina, with the requirement not to turn it into a military base for the Middle East, was introduced by KKE deputies Christos Tsokanis and Nikos Papanastasis – they were supported by Giorgos Marinos, Thanasis Pafilis, Nikos Ampatielos, Yiannis Giokas , Vivi Daga, Semina Digeni, Liana Kanelli, Christos Katsotis, Aphrodite Kthena and Diamando Manolakou – to the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs.

“According to reports that the government has not denied, after sending frigates to the Eastern Mediterranean and activating the Souda base, the government has already taken the next step by providing the 112th Combat Wing at Elefsina, where the Americans will move dozens of their aircraft, support transports, flying tankers, a real base of war for Middle East. And this despite the fact that the Souda base is reportedly “crowded” with overcrowded transport, spy and other aircraft.

Our Motherland cannot be a naval or air base for carrying out plans for military assassinations. The bloody business of economic interests and their struggle for dividing the pie have nothing to do with the interests and needs of the people.

Instead of implementing the decision of the Greek parliament to recognize a Palestinian state, which is the only peaceful solution, the government takes on a very heavy responsibility, participating even more actively in the mass murder of the peoples of the Middle East and thereby turning our country into a target for retaliatory actions.

KKE requires:

• Do not use the Elefsina US-NATO military base.
• The frigate “Psara” must be returned. Stop providing all facilities to the US and Israel.
• Stop any economic, political, military cooperation with the murderer state Israel.

QUESTION to ministers:

“What measures does the government intend to take to prevent the use of the 112th Combat Wing in Elefsina to implement the murderous plans of the United States and NATO and to stop any participation of the country in the bloodbath in the Middle East?”
