A 17-year-old foreigner was arrested in the capital’s Kipseli district for walking with a Kalashnikov assault rifle in his bag.
Police, during patrols they regularly carry out in Athens, and after an anonymous call and information, found a foreigner along with a 33-year-old local woman walking along a street in the Kypseli district at noon on Saturday 21 October. The police stopped the couple for a check, but the guy tried to escape.
He was not allowed to go far, as law enforcement officers managed to catch him and immobilize him. During the check, a Kalashnikov assault rifle with three magazines and 140 rounds of ammunition was found in the minor’s bag. The young man and the woman walking with him were immediately handcuffed.
The detainees were taken to the Ag police station. Panteleimonas. Both of those arrested were later brought before the Athens District Attorney.
