The National Security Council discussed the terrorist attacks in Israel, their consequences for Greece and the region


The Greek government’s National Security Council (KYSEA), the country’s top foreign policy and defense decision-making body, discussed on Thursday the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel and the situation in the Gaza Strip, as well as their implications for Greece and the region, a government spokesman said. .

An emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reviewed the situation in the region and the ongoing repatriation of Greek citizens from Israel, coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the council meeting, all aspects of the crisis were discussed, with an emphasis on security, both domestic and international. At the same time, the Greek authorities are on alert and the policy of protecting land and sea borders continues with the same intensity, the spokesman added.

Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” is one of four airports in Europe that operate repatriation flights from Israel and will continue to do so for foreign nationals.
