Greece wants to help with the transportation of Ukrainian grain through its ports

Greek Foreign Minister Georgios Gerapetritis told his colleagues from the European Union that Greece is ready to transport Ukrainian grain through ports in the north of the country.

At the meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries EU in Kyiv, Gerapetritis noted the “huge” consequences of the collapse of an agreement with Russia on the safe export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea, especially for supplying countries in the global South.

Gerapetritis stressed Greece’s readiness to contribute to finding a solution to the problem and mentioned the possibility of transporting grain through northern Greek ports, especially the port of Alexandroupoli, diplomatic sources said.

An informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Kiva was convened on Monday for symbolic reasons: EU foreign ministers reaffirmed their unconditional support for Ukraine and solidarity with the struggle of the Ukrainian people.

After the cancellation of the “grain deal,” Ukraine sent its grain through Poland. But due to recent events, Ukraine has serious disagreements with its neighbor, and Poland (along with Ukraine’s other neighbors) has banned the transportation of grain through its territory.
