Residents of Patras are left speechless by the news of a horrific road accident that has claimed the lives of three people, including a 3-year-old boy.
The tragedy occurred on Sunday evening on the New National Highway when a luxury Jaguar car carrying a child and his grandparents collided with two other vehicles.
According to tempo24.gr, 66-year-old Dimitrios Skarlatos, his grandson and 53-year-old Maria Menelou (the driver of the other vehicle) died in the accident.
Initially, the Jaguar, driven by the child’s grandfather, crashed into a pole, drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a car driven by a woman. Continuing on its “crazy” course, the Jaguar then collided with a third car, driven by a 51-year-old woman. According to sources, the boy was sitting in a child seat, which flew out of the open-top car after the collision.
The victims were taken to the hospital, however, despite the efforts of doctors, the victims died. It is noted that the Jaguar was followed in another car by the baby’s parents, who recently came to Greece from Germany to get married and baptize their little angel. The family was preparing to return to Germany in the near future.
The Patras Traffic Department is conducting a preliminary investigation into the causes of the traffic accident.
