Police action to seize a man who locked himself in his apartment in the Neos Kosmos district of Athens on Monday morning had a happy ending, despite neighbors pointing out he was carrying an object that could be a weapon.
After a conversation with the negotiator, the man was detained by Ο.Π.Κ.Ε officers.

However, no weapons were found in the house where the man and his mother were hiding. According to one of the residents of the house, the man, before closing himself in his apartment, insulted his mother and neighbors when they asked him to be quiet.
The resident of the house said: “We did not sleep because at 2:30-3:00 in the morning the neighbor beat his mother. My mother then came out and told him:” Please be quiet, because we cannot sleep. the answer began to utter incomprehensible phrases to my mother and me, shouting: “Go downstairs, otherwise I will beat you too,” the tenant told protothema.gr, adding that the police ordered the residents of the house not to leave their apartments.
Apparently, the residents of the house decided to teach their neighbor a lesson by complaining to the police that he was armed and wanted to kill his mother. The police responded quickly, but the “terrible incident” turned out to be an ordinary domestic conflict, not worth a damn.
Greek publications note that at least 10 cars with police officers and negotiators arrived at the scene of a domestic, in fact, incident. By the way, several robberies took place in the capital that night, incl. armed, where the police went with obvious reluctance and in much smaller numbers.
I wonder if there will be any reaction from the police to, in fact, a false call?
