"Profitable job": maids in Zakynthos enriched themselves by 6,000 euros

Stealing phones and cash from hotel guests, two maids committed eight thefts. The amount stolen was almost 6 thousand euros.

By information newsbeast.gr, the police authorities of Zakynthos put an end to the rampant illegal activities of two hotel employees in the resort of Laganas. After a thorough investigation by the island’s security department, 8 cases of theft have been confirmed.

After analyzing the method of theft and using the collected evidence, the police identified two Roma women, aged 39 and 30, who worked as maids at the hotel, and charged them with repeated thefts and complicity.

In July 2023, women took a total of 2,980 euros out of hotel rooms, and another 2,886 euros in mobile phones and accessories belonging to tourists. The materials of the case were handed over to the prosecutor of Zakynthos.
