Why you should eat tahini

In recent years, a product such as tahini has firmly entered our lives. There are many good reasons to introduce sesame seeds (or a paste made from them) into your daily diet.

Tahini is made from sesame seeds, peeled (and not). Therefore, the color of the paste varies – from brown to light beige.

The product contains a lot of “good fats” that have been proven to be good for our health. This is the so-called linoleic acid (Omega-6, ω-6), which our body cannot produce on its own, and therefore it must be obtained from food. Tahini protects against cardiovascular disease while lowering cholesterol levels.

Tahini is a product that can cover the body’s daily protein requirement, when combined with foods rich in lysine, an amino acid that converts vegetable proteins into proteins of high biological value, similar to animal proteins. For this reason tahini is one of the most important foods that anyone who follows a vegan diet or needs a diet rich in protein, such as athletes and children, should consume..

Tahini also is an excellent source of calciumand this is another reason why it recommended for those who do not consume dairy products, as well as for women during menopause (and even long before the onset of menopause).

It is useful for women to include the product in their diet early enough, and not at the threshold of menopause, so that the bones are in good condition and osteoporosis is not threatened.

Magnesium is also very important for mental health and the normal functioning of our nervous system (to improve sleep, to fight stress).

Product rich in selenium, which is important for people suffering from thyroid problems. Tahini strengthens nails and prevents hair loss.

Finally, tahini is a good source of iron, potassium and zinc. All three essential minerals help strengthen and stimulate the immune system, mental well-being, and increase overall energy levels.
