A man hospitalized in critical condition after trying to save his son who was swept at sea died on Monday afternoon.
The man rushed to the aid of his eight-year-old son, swept into the sea on an air mattress, but he was pulled out of the water unconscious.
“The child was lying on a mattress, and because of a very strong wind, the sea carried him away from the coast, and his father rushed to help him. As far as I was told, the man could not swim,” said an eyewitness.
In critical condition, the man was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Asklepio Voula hospital. However, despite the efforts of doctors, he died.
