Weather forecast: Giannis Callianos argues with Bloomberg

High temperatures are expected in Greece in the coming days, but not the “terrible heat” predicted by Bloomberg, meteorologist Yiannis Kallianos said.

Today, August 21, a very strong wind is expected throughout the country, the thermometers will rise to 37 ° C. Similar temperatures are forecast for the following days, and Giannis Kallianos rhetorically asks: “Where is the almost ‘nightmarish’ heat that Bloomberg predicted?” In his post, the meteorologist writes:

“At the beginning of August, if you remember well, there was Bloomberg article, which cited the opinion of some meteorologists, who spoke of an almost nightmarish heat wave that would hit the Mediterranean (including Greece) starting on August 15th. I’ll analyze what happens in the end.”

By according to Callianos, before the end of August, probably, Greece will enter a period of heat. But this cannot be called a “heat wave” – areas where temperatures reach 39-40°C and very locally 41°C will be few, mainly in the west and north of the country.

Such temperatures are expected from August 21 to Friday August 25, with the possible preservation of these values until the end of the month. Winds in the Aegean this week will not allow temperatures to rise above 37-38°C in the east of the mainland (very locally 39°C), and on the islands of the Aegean – above 34-36°C.

These are just warm days, but not extreme heat or even “nightmarish” as it is presented in Bloomberg for the period after August 15, the meteorologist says. In the coming days, the following air temperature is expected in Attica:

Monday 21/8: 37°C

Tuesday 22/8: 38°C

Wednesday 23/8: 38-39°C

Thursday 24/8: 37-38°C

Friday 25/8: 37-38°C.

It is worth congratulating the Greek meteorologists who argued earlier that what Bloomberg wrote then does not matter, since no one can know for sure what will happen to the weather in 15 days.
