USA: ordinary water caused the death of a mother of two children

In the US state of Indiana, a woman died after drinking four bottles of water.

True, the process took only 20 minutes, that is, during this time she drank almost two liters of water. The cause of death was hyperhydration – excess water content in the body or its individual parts.

It all happened on July 4, when mother-of-two Ashley Summers, who came to rest on Lake Freeman in Indiana, suddenly felt very thirsty. She explained to others that she felt signs of dehydration – weakness, dizziness and intense thirst, which she could not quench in any way.

Within about twenty minutes, the woman drank four bottles of water with a capacity of 0.47 liters. Feeling no relief, Ashley returned home and passed out in the garage. There she was found by relatives, writes edition of the Independent.

The woman was immediately taken to the hospital, but she died without regaining consciousness. Devon Miller, Ashley’s brother says:

“It was a shock to all of us when the doctors first reported water poisoning. Someone said she drank four 0.47-liter bottles of water in 20 minutes. That’s almost two liters. That’s the amount you’re supposed to drink in a whole day.”

According to the doctors, Ashley Summers died due to overhydration, which caused swelling of the brain and cessation of blood flow.
