Fears of riots: AEK’s twin brothers – French and Italian ultras – are going to Greece

Not even a day has passed since brutal murder 29-year-old fan of AEK Athens Michalis Katsouris in Nea Filadelfia by Croatian football hooligans, fans of Dinamo Zagreb, as there were reports of the imminent arrival of “fans” from other European clubs.

In particular, there are reports, not yet confirmed, that fans of Marseille and Livorno, who are sister cities of the Greek AEK, will arrive in Greece.

Marseille fans are twinned with AEK Athens fans and their team will face Panathinaikos on 9 August in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. In turn, Livorno fans also have close ties with AEK fans. It goes without saying that if the information is confirmed, then we are in for a real carnage, since there are already Croatian (and some Austrian) fans in Greece who are fraternizing with Panathinaikos fans.

Enhanced security measures at the match “Panathinaikos – Marseille”

The match between Panathinaikos and Marseille in the third qualifying round of the Champions League will take place tomorrow (9/8, at 21:00), UEFA has sent an additional security officer to him. The match at the Apostolos Nikolaidis Stadium on Wednesday will be played with the highest possible security measures, Panathinaikos told UEFA.

Usually at every match there is … an observer, and at “high risk” matches – a security officer, which was already known to Panathinaikos fans in connection with the well-known “relationship” of Marseille fans with AEK Athens fans (which is why there was a ban on the movement of fans).

Recall that on August 7, before the match between AEK and Dinamo Zagreb, a group of 150-200 initially aggressive Croatian ultras, incited by their colleagues from Panathinakikos, attacked AEK Athens fans. Croatian hooligans came to the stadium with obvious intentions, which were evidenced by the manner of their movement, and “equipment”. They attacked with knives, folding clubs, sticks, flares, and anything else that could be used in such incidents.

Random people, including women and children, also suffered during the attack.
