Daktilios traffic restrictions in the center of Athens will be lifted on July 21

From Friday 21 July and suspended until the end of summer a rule according to which cars with even numbers on even days are allowed to enter the center of Athens, and cars with odd numbers on odd days, according to the traffic police.

The restrictions, which come into effect every autumn and lift in mid-July, are designed to reduce traffic in downtown Athens. The territory on which the restriction applies is indicated by a blue rectangular plate, in the center of which, on a yellow background, in a red border there is a Greek letter “D” (δακτύλιος – dactylos). The restriction is valid from Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 6 pm hours, Friday from 8 am to 3 pm and not valid on weekends and holidays. It does not apply to tourists who use rental cars.
