Seven arrests in the center of Athens

Greek law enforcement agencies on July 4 and 5 of this year carried out planned operational activities to combat “street crimes” in a wider area of ​​​​the center of Athens.

The raids took place in the areas of Kolonos, Kallithea, Acropolis, Kipseli, Omonia, Patisia and Agios Panteleimonas. The police “cleaned up the mess” by identifying the perpetrators of theft, robbery and drug dealing. As a result of large-scale actions, suspicious persons were found and detained. With the involvement of a search dog, searches were carried out in houses and cars. Discovered and confiscated:

  • 23.48 grams of cocaine, packaged in bags,
  • 5 hemp seedlings,
  • 90.95 grams of cannabis,
  • 1.23 grams of hemp seeds,
  • a small amount of heroin
  • electronic balance,
  • 7 knives (cold weapons),
  • 2 muskets (ancient weapon),
  • many jewels,
  • cash in the amount of 19,385 euros, 145 pounds and 59 dollars.

As a result of targeted inspections, 7 people were detained for violating the law on addictive substances, weapons, violence, receiving and disposing of criminal proceeds.

With the completion of operational activities, after collecting and evaluating data, a total of 23 thefts from residential buildings and car interiors and 1 case of robbery in a residential building were detected. Criminal proceedings have been instituted on the above crimes. The detainees were taken to the prosecutor’s office in Athens.
