Leonardo DiCaprio expressed his admiration for Greece’s actions in protecting the environment in his Instagram post.
The Hollywood star has been involved in environmental issues and their elimination for many years, as well as created a fundwhich aims to find solutions for a more harmonious relationship between man and nature.
“Greece recently became the first European country to recognize key areas of biodiversity in its laws and policies”the actor wrote on Instagram, explaining that the areas designated in this way are “the most important places in the world for the conservation of biodiversity and play a critical role in the overall health of the planet.”
“The Greek government is to be congratulated with the fact that it has taken a leading role in highlighting key areas of biodiversity as a key tool for expanding the network of protected areas and conserving biodiversity on Earth,” Leonardo DiCaprio added in his post, referring to the fact that in the spring of this year these areas have become protected by law 5037/2023.
DiCaprio, who is the UN’s “envoy” for climate change, has mentioned an environmental issue in Greece on social media in the past, but his post was negative at the time. It was the summer of 2019 when he posted a video of cleaning the seabed on Andros, where plastic bags, toilet lids and hundreds of kilograms of garbage were found.
