A 37-year-old Albanian woman who left her one-year-old daughter unattended at home was sentenced by the Thessaloniki Criminal Court to 6 months in prison, suspended for three years.
She was found guilty of endangering a minor child. The interests of the unfortunate mother were represented in court by her lawyer, she did not appear. In defense of his client, he noted that the woman went shopping at the supermarket and left the child alone, as there was no one next to her who could help her.
The lawyer was a little disingenuous. When the woman returned home and saw the police at the door, she said she went out to buy cigarettes, a police witness testified in court.
Recall the incident happened June 27 in the morning – the neighbors heard the baby crying loudly and called the 911 rescue service. As the police established, the mother turned out to be an Albanian citizen, she was arrested. A case has been initiated against a woman for leaving a minor child unattended and assisted.
