A resident of Thessaloniki received a sentence from the Criminal Court in the case of beating his nine-year-old daughter – a year in prison with a three-year suspension of execution.
The reason for the aggression of the man was “unacceptable programs on TV”, which he found his daughter watching. Hearing the girl’s screams, the mother was stunned by the scene of severe beating that opened before her and called the police.
According to the indictment, the incident of domestic violence occurred on Wednesday June 28 in an apartment where a 43-year-old man, his wife and three young children live.
In court, the defendant tried to provide mitigating circumstances: a minor child allegedly attacked him first, and he himself attends drug addiction programs and receives medication that affects his psychological state. However, his arguments did not convince the three members of the court, and they imposed a punishment in accordance with the law, writes CNN Greece.
