In order to save a bear cub that fell into a water tank in Lefki, in Kastoria, a real rescue operation was organized in the area.
As ARKTUROS emphasizes, the bear cub was “lucky to be spotted. It was a small bear cub that fell into a water tank in Lefki Kastoria.
The Kastoria Forestry Authority and ARCTUROS, in cooperation with the Kastoria Environmental Protection Company, immediately organized a rescue operation.
“It is worth noting that the mother bear was quite close and often appeared near the rescue operation. Finally, with the assistance of the Forestry Department, a tree trunk was cut down and placed inside the tank so that the bear cub could climb it up,” – added to the organization.
“After a while, when all the participants left, the cub got up and crawled out of the tank, and a camera installed nearby recorded how the mother bear took him away, and they left together”– reports ARKTUROS.
ARCTUROS also emphasizes that “Instances of bear interactions in residential areas have increased dramatically this year, and ARCTUROS is urging relevant departments to respond to these conditions by strengthening the departments involved in the Rapid Intervention Team.”
