Tourist dies in Thassos while waiting "Ambulance"

The tourist died on the beach of the island of Thassos, without waiting for the ambulance, which took almost an hour to get to the place of call.

A woman of about 45-50 years old from the Czech Republic was vacationing on a northwestern island in the Aegean Sea. According to eyewitnesses, the woman fainted on the beach of Astridas a few seconds after she emerged from the sea. Eyewitnesses emphasize that for 30-40 minutes, four Romanian tourists on the beach did artificial respiration and tried to resuscitate her, and an ambulance arrived 51 minutes later.

A private doctor was called to the scene and pronounced the woman dead. Her body was taken by an ambulance and an autopsy has been scheduled, according to local media.

Many foreign tourists have already reacted on social media and report that even if they have super fancy private insurance, it will be useless as there is only one ambulance on the island. One Greek woman characteristically wrote: “I am very sorry about our mess. We want tourism at the prices of Dubai, and we have infrastructure at the level of third world countries. I am very sorry!”

Another user wrote that the woman’s pulse was 40 minutes, and there were chances to save her, but when the ambulance arrived, it was too late.

In Group Facebook Forum Thassos Romanian tourists are calling on local and national authorities to provide decent medical conditions for tourist destinations overcrowded with tourists. They stated the following:

I have just been informed via private message that a woman from the Czech Republic has died on a beach in the Astris region. I again call on the local and national authorities of Greece to provide decent medical care on islands full of tourists. It is unrealistic when the only ambulance on the island arrives after 30 km and 51 minutes only to declare death. If my repeated requests have not yet received an official response, then perhaps now that it is too late, something will be done and we can avoid such tragedies between locals and tourists. I do not know the exact cause of death, but perhaps if there had been another ambulance in Potos or Kinra, the woman would be alive now. I ask you all: take care of yourself and those around you, get health insurance (although, as experience shows, this is meaningless).

This second tourist death And fourth death in Greece from the beginning of June due to the delay in the arrival of the ambulance.
