Enhanced road safety measures in connection with the June 25 elections

Greek police take increased traffic safety measures across the country on the eve of the June 25 parliamentary elections.

The planning of measures is part of the special instructions and guidelines for strengthening the presence and activity of the traffic police in order to help create smooth and safe traffic conditions and make it easier for citizens to travel, as well as to prevent traffic accidents.

Measures will be introduced gradually Friday 23 June to Monday 26 June and will peak during the hours and days of mass vehicle entry/exit to and from major urban centers.

The planning was carried out under the direction of the Traffic Police Directorate of the Hellenic Police Headquarters and includes basic guidelines for developing measures throughout the country’s road network, as well as individual measures based on local problems and the specific traffic conditions prevailing in each region or district.

“The Greek Police once again reminds all drivers and road users that road safety is everyone’s business.”

In this context EL.AS. recommends to citizens:

  • Before the trip, carry out a technical check of your car, be informed about the state of the road network and weather conditions.
  • Be especially careful while driving and follow the rules of the Road Traffic Code.
  • Obey road signs and obey the instructions of traffic officers.
  • Do not use mobile phones or other distracting devices while driving.
  • Do not drink alcohol while driving.
  • Protect children in the car using child seats.
  • Fasten seat belts, use helmets on motorcycles.
  • Do not overestimate your driving skills and the technical capabilities of vehicles.
  • Respect and protect your passengers and other road users by driving responsibly and thoughtfully.
