Thessaloniki: dog found 260 kg of cocaine

Two members of an international network of cocaine drug dealers have been arrested in Thessaloniki.

According to thestival.gr, police officers from the Anti-Narcotics Department (Directorate of Thessaloniki) have begun to liquidate a large criminal organization and seize more than 260 kilograms of cocaine.

In addition to those already arrested earlier, two men, 34 and 38 years old, were detained yesterday. An appropriate criminal case has been initiated against them. According to the police, in the course of operational activities, a search was conducted at an enterprise in the Evosmos area with the involvement of special police dogs (trained to detect drugs). As a result, a travel bag was found in a specially equipped cache located behind a built-in wardrobe, in which there were 5 packages of cocaine with a total weight of 5 kilograms 916 grams. In addition, the following were found and seized:

  • heroin and amphetamine
  • accurate electronic scales,
  • Cell phones,
  • 1 rifle
  • 1 shotgun
  • 11 rounds.

It is especially noted that during the search, a number of seals of public services and private companies, state license plates, as well as a number of documents and certificates, whose authenticity is verified.

It is recalled that on May 09, 2023, a total of 10 people were arrested, including leading members of the organization, with the seizure of more than 104 kilograms of cocaine, and on February 6, 2023, 161 kg of the same drug was identified and seized as part of the ongoing investigation. Since the beginning of the investigation and to date, a total of more than 270 kilograms of cocaine have been found and seized.
