A 40-year-old woman, a mother of two, was killed by her ex-husband in Menidi at the intersection of Parnitos and Aristotelous streets.
The victim was found dead by neighbors, and police reportedly did not provide any assistance to her.
At the same time, authorities are looking for the perpetrator, a 50-year-old Albanian, her ex-husband.
A woman who was stabbed in the stomach complained to authorities several times about her ex-husband's violent behavior. One complaint was filed in September 2022 and the second after Easter on May 7, and was due to appear before the trial court again yesterday. Police message:
“05/07/2024 at about 00:30 the victim, born in 1984, a native of Albania, and her ex-partner, born in 1974, a native of Albania, living at the same address, were taken to the 1st precinct of Aharnon, department for combating domestic violence violence by members of the rapid response team. The above-mentioned woman filed a criminal complaint against her former partner, who was arrested in the context of self-incrimination, for violating Law 3500/06 on Domestic Violence, in conjunction with Articles 308 of the Civil Code “Simple physical harm” and 333 of the Civil Code “Danger” and Art. 361 of the Civil Code “Insult”.
The victim was given a referral for a forensic examination, as well as information, instructions and printed materials in accordance with article 21 of Law 3500/06, so that she could receive, if she so wishes, the appropriate moral support and the necessary material assistance from the competent authorities. In addition, she was informed about the possibility of installing the “Panic Button” application on her mobile phone and received a code to access this application. The arrested person was brought on 05/07/2024 to the Athens Public Prosecutor's Office and was given a trial date of Friday 05/17/2024.”
On two occasions in the past, in 2013 and 2022, the victim filed a complaint against her ex-partner for domestic violence, during which he was tracked down and arrested as part of investigative procedures.

The woman had a panic button app installed on her phone, but she never used it. It is worth noting that the criminal has already three times was arrested following complaints from the victim, but was released by the judicial authorities. It is noted that the head of the police department for combating domestic violence called her two days after the last complaint, but she replied that she is all right and refused any help.
The woman was found on Thursday morning on Parnitos Street, on the side of the road, with a knife stuck in the stomach.
Homicide investigators immediately ruled out robbery as her bag, mobile phone and wallet were found at the crime scene. A key witness was at the scene and claims to have seen the woman being stabbed in the middle of the road. Police are expected to take witness statements to gather more information.
